Local CMSD Teams Qualify for State Championship

Officials with FIRST® in Ohio, the governing body for FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) teams in Ohio, confirmed today that two Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) robotics teams from the Great Lakes Science Center’s Robotics Initiative have qualified to compete at the 2024 Ohio State Robotics Championship.
FRC teams #8243 (The Astro Circuits) from the John Marshall School of Information Technology and #9622 (GRIDLOCK) from the Garrett Morgan School of Engineering and Innovation were among the top-performing teams in the state of Ohio this season and have earned an opportunity to compete for the title of "State Champion" on Saturday, May 11, 2024. This year’s State Championship will be held at Worthington Kilbourne High School at the following location:

Opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM. For parents, caregivers, and fans wishing to travel to Columbus to cheer the teams on, please remember to bring your "Team Spirit" and “Gracious Professionalism" as you support our CMSD teams!
Good luck to GRIDLOCK and the Astro Circuits as they represent CMSD and the Great Lakes Science Center at the 2024 Ohio State Championship! We know you will make us proud!
