FRC Professional Development - Mentor Training
Presented by FIRST in Ohio
The Great Lakes Science Center in partnership with FIRST® in Ohio, will host a Mentor Training Workshop for new and existing team mentors participating in the 2026 FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) season.
Whether you are new to the position, or a seasoned veteran, this workshop is for you!. Facilitated by a group of award-winning mentors from across the state of Ohio, this day-long mentor training session has been carefully crafted to help prepare you to be as effective as possible in your role as a team mentor.

This year's workshop will feature updates on the upcoming 2026 FRC season, including Kickoff information and Regional Competition dates for Ohio and Pennsylvania. It will also provide participants with an overview of the new Mentor Development Initiative, including the new online Learning Modules and the special mentor certification programs, currently under development.
The workshop also features several planned “breakout” sessions facilitated by one (or more) of the award-winning mentors from across the state of Ohio. Planned breakout sessions will include such topics as:

SPECIAL NOTE:
This training session is "hands-on." Workshop participants should plan to bring their favorite pair of safety glasses and other preferred PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
